Gastronaut Canestrelli. Canestrelli are small round biscuits widespread in some regions of Italy, in particular in Liguria. They get their name from the canestro, which means "basket" in Italian, due to their characteristic basket-like shape. Traditionally, canestrelli are cooked until they turn a light golden color and develop a slightly crunchy texture on the outside while remaining tender and buttery on the inside. They are often enjoyed with a cup of tea or coffee as a sweet treat.
