Galbani since 1882, the year of its birth, research and conquer in all its activities the value of trust that has always and more than any other distinguishes the company.

Galbani since 2006 it has been part of Groupe Lactalis, the French Group, the leading producer in the world in the dairy sector, with a turnover of 17.3 billion euros and over 75,000 collaborators worldwide.

Lactalis Italy Group is the absolute leader in the dairy products market in Italy and one of the main players in the cured meats market. It markets over 500 products and is present in over 140 countries thanks to Galbani, the first brand of Italian cheeses in the world.

1882 Egidio Galbani founded in Ballabio, in the Valsassina, the “Dairy Davide Galbani” named by Egidio after his father, with the production of the famous “robiola”, the first Italian raw cheese born to compete with French luxury products.
1906 The Bel Paese is born: the first Italian cheese that will also find great success abroad.
1910 The first large Galbani dairy is built in Melzo to which much of the company's history will be linked.
1920s The family business is transformed into Egidio Galbani SpA and continues its growth, with the construction of new plants, and with the production of melted cheeses according to innovative procedures for the Italian industry of the time.
1930s Galbani is such an important reality that it already employs more than 1000 people with 56 warehouses, 4 branches abroad, 108 representations from neighboring France to the United States and Argentina. New products appear on the market and the Crescenza Certosa is born.
1936 The company enters the meat sector with the purchase of the Melzese cured meat factory.
1956 The first industrially produced mozzarella is launched: Santa Lucia. These are the years of "Carosello": the famous claim "Galbani means trust" becomes one of the best known slogans to Italians.
60's The new headquarters of the company was opened in 1960 in Milan, ushering in a particularly effective period of distribution, industrial and advertising communication.
1980s The 1980s represented a decisive turning point for Galbani, and the great Melzo salami factory was built.
1989 Galbani enters the DANONE Group and strengthens its position on the European market.
1990 The Vallelata brand is born.
2002 On the 120th anniversary of his birth, Galbani returns to independent management. The BC Partners fund acquires all the assets and guarantees the Company continuity in management.
2004 BiG srl and biG Logistica SpA are born, companies of the group that ensure the distribution and sale of all Galbani products.
2005 The Galbani spa holding group is born
2006 Galbani Group becomes part of the French Lactalis Group.
2008 Lactalis Italia Group is born, the holding that manages the most important brand portfolio in the dairy sector in Italy: Galbani, Invernizzi, Cademartori, Locatelli, Président.
