The salinity of the irrigation water certainly reduces productivity, but gives the Pachino cherry tomatoes unique organoleptic characteristics. Flavor, consistency, brilliance and shelf life have allowed the Pachino cherry to be known and to establish itself in the main European markets, up to the point of obtaining recognition of the Protected Geographical Indication by the Community itself.
