The Emilian lasagna, also known as Lasagne alla Bolognese, are a traditional version of the classic Italian lasagna that originated in the Emilia-Romagna region, specifically in the city of Bologna.
The main difference between Lasagne Emiliane and other lasagna variants is the use of a meat-based sauce, also known as Bolognese sauce, which is prepared with ground beef or pork, onions, celery, carrots, tomatoes and a splash of red wine. The sauce is slowly cooked for several hours to develop a rich, savory taste.
Even the sheets used in Lasagne Emiliane are different from other types of lasagne. They are made with eggs and flour, which gives them a tender texture and a slightly yellow colour. The sheets of pasta are usually rolled out thin, then boiled and layered with Bolognese sauce, bechamel sauce, and grated Parmesan.
The dish is then baked in the oven until the cheese is melted and frothy. Emilian lasagna is a hearty and satisfying dish, perfect for a special occasion or a comforting family meal.
