Lidl was born in Germany in the 1930s thanks to the success of a company from Neckarsulm in Baden-Württember that was involved in the wholesale sale of food products. The efficient business model of Lidl led to rapid company growth: 450 stores had already opened in Germany 15 years later and by the end of the 1980s Lidl it had also spread beyond the German borders.
